Music today is in my opinion totally different to the music from say the 60's-80's. In the past musicians had to be REALLY good to get a deal, they actually had to play the instruments that they went on stage with, they had to be able to sing in key or play in key, the drummer had to keep the beat solid throughout the whole song, everything had to be played right. We didn't have ProTools, Logic Pro, or any other DAW system to record to see a pretty wave form, and then as a sound engineer go...

I had my first remix technologies lecture this week, and at first I have to admit I was slightly skeptical about what was going to be involved in this unit. Was I going to have to take a song and make a completely new version? How was all this going to be assessed? I recently had my first Live Production hand-in, which wasn't so much of a hand-in but rather a practical test, and written test on everything I'd done in the sessions in The Engine Shed.

I had my second workshop session in The Engine Shed today and it was great fun. I arrived about 3min late as I got a little side tracked setting up the 5.1 control room for the studios but luckily I didn't miss anything. When I got up on the stage Gary had got his drum kit in and was starting to set it up on the drum riser, there were flight cases everywhere, speaker wedges all over the place, and a few lights dotted around. It was at this point I noticed that the mixing console wasn't...

It was my first live production 'workshop' this week at The Engine Shed which was really great. We first met Harry who would be our tutor for these sessions. He's worked at The Engine Shed since the day it opened after doing a radio degree.

When we first walked in non of us had any idea what to expect from this session. The first part of the session was a sort of informal get to know u so Harry could get an idea of our experience and what we wanted to do after uni.

After this we...
