Well what a month this past month has been! I got moved back into my parents house and started the job search as nearly every graduate will have done, applied left, right and centre, I even had an interview with Apple! After not much luck at all I got a call from a nice guy called Nick who was recruiting for a developer role which he thought would suit me perfectly, it would involve me re-locating again but this really wasn't an issue to me so I got an interview arranged and off I trotted on a 4 hour train journey a few days later.
The interview was with a company called Blue Lobster based in Lowestoft by the sea (bonus!). I would be doing web development and then possibly some iPhone and iPad development too, if you've read other posts on this site or if you know me personally you will know that one of my passions is development, and to get a professional position as a developer would be a dream come true for me!
Well I got the job! I have now moved to Lowestoft and started work on Monday and im loving it so far, I don't really see that changing any time soon! Iv got a really interesting project as my first project which is awesome!
I've completely rebuilt this site yet again but this time doing away with Wordpress as I really was starting to get sick of it and switched everything to Drupal, which is by far a better platform for this site to run on. This move involved a complete rebuild of the layout, look, and feel to the site which to be honest it really needed.
This is the first time I've really ever used Drupal and I have to say, so far im loving the ease of use and flexibility of it! Define a content type, build the view and away you go, easy as pie when you know what does what really! It did take me a few weeks to learn what did what in the admin system, how to theme certain elements, and how to build my own theme from scratch. I'm still learning new things about it every day, getting into using different APIs that it offers, and finding out about different modules.
I get the keys to my house on Friday morning which is awesome how fast that's happened and all my stuff is being shipped up to me via a "man in a van" on Monday mid-day sometime so that's double awesome! Sky will be round on Tuesday to install my Sky+ HD, and I'm still waiting for the half useless people at BT to get back to me on my phone-line being activated so I can get my broadband ordered. This time I'm going with O2 broadband on their "Pro" package, which includes a static IP address so I can leave my MacBook Pro at home and just connect remotely to it if I need to via the office, also lets me run my Linux testing server from the house too without having to mess about with dynamic IPs changing all the time :-D
Well I guess I should call BT and have a go at them again before my lunch is over, then back to work :-D I'm going to actually update this more now with any luck too!
