Moved and a new web project...

Well I can go back slightly on what I said about moving sucking, I don't so much mind the moving side of things, it was the leaving all my friends in Lincoln that sucked so my previous post was possibly a wrong title, however I can't be bothered to change that now so it's staying :-) I have come to realise that I will see these friends again at some point soon, and with the few events that are coming up involving them. I am now all moved back to Reading with my parents and I have to be honest it's something I'm not wild about doing, but needs must as they say.

A Week in London

This is an account of my week at The Pavement in London. When I first met Andy from The Pavement to discuss the application I'm working on with them I was invited to London to work alongside them, and get more of an insight into everything that goes on there. I took up this offer in the last week and have spent the past week commuting to London from Reading.
I'm certainly glad I did as I've learnt so much this week, met some great people, and realised how much fun development of software is, even if it does have it's plain irritating moments too.

The project unravels

After a little confusion about what my dissertation project actually involved. I knew I was going to be building an iPhone application of a musical variety, however I was unsure of what exactly the app was to do, who the app was aimed at, or any ideas for it other than it would be game related.

Busy Busy

Why does everything always seem to get on top of you when Christmas is coming up? I have a fair amount of work to get done in the coming weeks before I leave Lincoln and head back to Reading to see my parents, and all I can get done is sitting and staring at 2 monitors, I just don't seem to be able to get motivated at all.

A dissertation idea...finally

I was originally finding it pretty difficult to decide on a subject for my dissertation, but after chatting with my tutor a little about it I came up with an idea to create an intranet version of a website for audio use. I was then informed of an iPhone application opportunity that had come up in the university and after some hard thinking I decided to do the iPhone application.

A new job, location, and site!

Well what a month this past month has been! I got moved back into my parents house and started the job search as nearly every graduate will have done, applied left, right and centre, I even had an interview with Apple! After not much luck at all I got a call from a nice guy called Nick who was recruiting for a developer role which he thought would suit me perfectly, it would involve me re-locating again but this really wasn't an issue to me so I got an interview arranged and off I trotted on a 4 hour train journey a few days later.

Ubercart 2 - Multiple 'Add to cart' buttons

I was recently building an e-commerce solution for someone, and came across a rather irritating issue which after many hours of searching for a solution I still couldn't find any information on, and every solution I found didn't do what I needed it to do. The site is Drupal 6.x with Ubercart 2.x installed as the e-commerce shopping platform, these two products have been proven over and over again to be fantastic, but as I have recently found, it takes a little more than just standard contributed modules to make everything seamless.
The Problem

CSS Templates

Those who follow me on Twitter will know that I recently had a large issue whilst developing a site with CSS and IE not playing ball at all...yes that old chestnut is back!
